Swift Satire Festival

4th to 7th July 2013

The Swift Satire Festival is unique as it is the only festival in Ireland dedicated purely to satire.  In fact this festival is so unique no other festival in the world is dedicated to satire in all its forms apart from one in Iran!  The festival is a celebration of the life, works and legacy of Dean Jonathan Swift, English literature's greatest satirist, who resided in Trim for a significant part of his life, where he penned many of his most famous works including Gulliver’s Travels and A Modest Proposal.   The festival encourages people to participate and give audiences access to, nationally and internationally, acclaimed satirists, comics, politicians and spin doctors, social commentators and academics in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. This festival celebrates the cultural heritage of County Meath and appeals to all ages with its three main themes of culture, academia and entertainment.
