Spirit of Folk Festival

Mini-festival scheduled for September 2013

Spirit of Folk is a family-friendly festival held in September in the grounds of Dunderry Park, County Meath. The festival has been running since 2011 and is primarily a folk and arts festival with a large emphasis on promoting Irish Heritage and Culture to a wider audience.   Spirit of Folk is a celebration of all things folk! Folk arts, crafts, games, spirituality, folk lore, and folk philosophy!  Spirit of Folk will showcase some of the highlights of the UK and Irish folk scene.  Activities planned for the festival include folk, traditional and bluegrass music, storytelling, poetry readings, falconry, archery, astronomy, ecology, small scale battle re-enactments, an interactive medieval village, interactive folk games, open-mic sessions, holistic healings, ceremonies and talks and lectures.  A 'living history' area will give you the chance to see ancient crafts and skills brought to life by experimental archaeologists and you'll get the chance to witness some of the weapon smith's products in action (from a safe distance) at the battle re-enactments!
