Blue Jean Country Queen Festival
31st May to 3rd June 2013
Now in its 25th year this Macra Na Feirme event welcomes potential queens to Athboy to contest this much coveted award. Each year our Queens gather from all over Ireland and even further afield to celebrate what has become a much loved tradition here in County Meath. With so many festivals every summer, it has really stood the test of time, with thousands of people coming back to Athboy year after year.
For 2013 the organising committee have a few surprises up their sleeves, with something to suit everybody, from the young to the old. From treasure hunts to art competitions; karaoke to barn dancing; live music to fancy dress football; this festival has it all. Street ceili; side shows; story tellers; clowns; food stalls; arts and crafts; and Farmer’s Markets; there is something for all the family. This June bank holiday weekend the Blue Jean Country Queen Festival is attempting to set a new world record for a blue denim mosaic and you could be part of it. So dribble off those Bobby Brookes; rustle up those Wranglers; and get down to Athboy. The party starts on 31st May.
